FUTURIST ADVISOR + COSTUME DESIGNER

TOM DALE DANCE COMPANY

THE FUTURE HUMAN ‘SURGE’

SURGE is a solo dance piece set within a futuristic digital landscape. Created by the Tom Dale dance company, featuring solo artist Jemima Brown, set designer Barret Hodgson and new music by Ital Tek.

I worked with the company as their Future Human consultant and was commissioned to design the costume due to my extensive experience as a fashion designer.

Watch a short movie on Surge on the BBC here.

By combining dance, electronic music and the digital arts, TDC is a leader in the field producing work which is simultaneously bold, exciting and constantly evolving. The company performs intimate and immersive work through to full-scale performances, nationally and internationally, in found spaces, art galleries, theatres and at music festivals.

SPECULATIVE FUTURES + CREATIVE COLLABORATION + WRITER

DAZED BEAUTY x SELFRIDGES

FUTURE FACING BEAUTY

For the Dazed Beauty& Selfridges collaboration, I profiled 6 future beauty tribes to answer the question: “What might the most talked-about beauty trends of tomorrow actually look like?”. They encompass the dystopian and utopian possibilities the next century has to offer, from face-distorting filters designed to defy data-tracking technology, to scented tattoos, and augmented skin adorned with advertising slogans.

The profiles were used to inspire the curation of the Selfridges x Dazed Beauty space and live workshops. Due to the pandemic, they moved online and resulted in a piece with make-up artist Lucy Bridges, pioneering digital artists reinterpreting my predictions.

The Future Beauty tribes I created represent a move towards a future of beauty not only transforming our perceptions of what’s considered beautiful, but also creating possibilities for diverse forms of self-expression, resistance and protest.

CREATIVE COLLABORATOR + DESIGNER

DUTCH FLOWER COUNCIL

One of my favourite creative collaborations to date, The Green Gallery Green screen project replaces invasive online ads with flower art.

I was commissioned by the Dutch Flower Council to bring the beauty and benefits of flowers inside our digital space as they promote wellness and creativity, as we spend more time on our devices and need additional wellbeing components to our hyperconnected lives,

Along with 4 other artists, I created original art inspired by my blended perspectives as a designer and futurist. The result is digital flower creations that populates browser screens with flower art instead of invasive ads, and bring joy to your digital every day .
